Superbike race to end North West 200 event
Published: 25th Jan 2011 12:36:17
The feature Superbike race will be the final event on the programme at this year's North West 200 on 21 May.
The revised raceday schedule will see five races run over six laps, with many of the top riders competing in all the classes, and no 125cc event included.
Honda riders John McGuinness and Keith Amor will not compete because of a clash with a World Endurance round.
Relentless have signed a new two-year deal which will see them remain as title sponsors of the race until 2012.
The Superbikes will kick off the race programme, followed by Supersport race one, the Superstock event, Supersport race two and the North West 200 Superbikes.
Among the leading road racers set to take part are Relentless TAS Suzuki duo Alastair Seeley and Guy Martin, MSS Colchester Kawasaki pilot Stuart Easton, multiple winner Michael Rutter, William Dunlop and Michael Dunlop.
Irish Superbike regular Kirk Jamison will make his debut at the event this year. having previously confined his efforts to short circuit racing.
With two race wins under his belt last year, Carrickfergus man Seeley is likely to be the man to beat in 2011.
Former clerk-of-the-course Mervyn Whyte will occupy a new role as race technical director.
BBC Northern Ireland will again provide extensive coverage of the event across television, online and radio.
