Girl, 8, robbed of cash and phone in Govanhill Park
Published: 13th Apr 2012 15:50:02
Police in Glasgow are hunting a young man who stole money and a mobile phone from an eight-year-old girl in a city park.
It happened at about 16:00 on Wednesday in Govanhill Park.
Detectives said the suspect was sitting on an inflatable red fitness ball before he approached the girl and then made off with cash and her phone.
Police said there would have been people out and about in the park at the time and have appealed for witnesses.
The suspect was described as Asian, in his mid-teens to early twenties, between 5ft 5in and 5ft 8in. He was wearing a black jacket over a long brown tunic and brown, loose fitting trousers.
Det Insp Scott McMillan said: "Someone may have noticed the man sitting on the red ball or may even have witnessed the incident.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time to get in touch with us. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could help us trace the suspect."
